AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK
Known for its big herd of elephants under the fort of the glistering majestic snowcapped Mt. Kilimanjaro (the highest African mountain – 5895m attitude). Covered by different wildlife habitat form open dry and dusty plain to stands of yellow barked Acacias, rocky lava striven thorn bush country to swamps and marshes. The Mountain provides water to springs and swamps that attracts over 50 mammals.
TSAVO WEST NATIONAL PARK
It covers an area of 9,065km2 with a more dense range of habitats South of River Tsavo is Savannah grass and bushland while to North is past volcanic activities with several hills and rocky escarpment i.e. Ngulia and Chyulu hills with thick woodland. These hills are source of water to “Mzima Springs”: the oasis flowing at a distance of 40-50 km away, at a rate of 225 million metres per day. Under water glass sided in the oasis one see hippopotamus, crocodiles and fishes. Other sites are Chaimu and Shetani (devil) Lava flow of recent time. Among animals to watch are red elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard etc. and shelters over 500 bird species.
TSAVO EAST NATIONAL PARK
Approximately 11,747km2, mainly dry, thorn bush country. It’s overlooked by Yatta plateau (322km wide), rock (Mudanda rock) run-off by Athi and Tsavo National park River which form Lugard falls and which attracts hundred of animals to drink i.e. elephants , lion, cheetah, Maasai Giraffe etc.
